It’s that time of year again, Hanukkah!
And I’ve really been doing it up.
On the first night, I had a Hanukkah dinner catered by The 2nd Ave. Deli, a New York staple
The second night was epic, a massive all-you-can-eat-and-drink dinner and dancing extravaganza at Sammy’s Romanian Steakhouse. Course after course of pickles, chopped liver, stuffed cabbage, beef sausages, steaks, chops, latkes, etc., accompanied by several bottles of vodka frozen in ice blocks.
DJ/Keyboardist Dani Luv’s music and comedy hilarity was top notch, as he either kept us laughing or dancing the entire night. We finished the dinner with chocolate egg creams, which I didn’t remember even having until the following day. Hazy memories, and photos and videos I never remember taking, will be my proof that I was even there.
The third night was spent recovering and laying low to make way for the fourth night, when I planned to make my own Hanukkah dinner for a few select guests.
On the menu: Braised Beef Short Ribs in a Mushroom-Veal Demi-Glace, Girolle Mushrooms, Chestnuts, and Heirloom Carrots, accompanied by Duck Fat Fried Latkes, Homemade Spiced-Rum Applesauce and Sour Cream.
Then there was dessert: Homemade Lavender Ice Cream over a Warm Vanilla Financier with Fresh Raspberries. Stuffed to the gills, we retreated to the living room as the Hanukkah candles burned into the night.
