Galette Des Rois 2016

You can take the boy out of France, but you can’t take France out of the boy. And at this moment, all over France people are digging into Galette des Rois, or King Cake. This puff pastry – frangipane dessert is eaten to celebrate The Epiphany, or the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles. In addition, a small figurine is hidden in the galette and the person who finds it in their portion is the king for the day. High stakes.

I’m not a Christian, but I’ve had my own epiphany: I can eat this dessert anywhere I am in the world and feel like I’m in Paris. And that’s just what I did.

But man cannot live on dessert alone, so before digging into my own homemade Galette des Rois, I fixed a proper dinner.
